Walking in the Spirit

Text: ROMANS 8:2-14 and GALATIANS 5:16-25; 6:7-9

Introduction

Zec 4:6 So he said to me, "This is the word of the LORD to Zerubbabel:
'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD
Almighty.
CEV: So the angel explained that it was the following message of the
LORD to Zerubbabel: I am the LORD All-Powerful. So don't depend
on your own power or strength, but on my Spirit.

TMSG: "This is GOD's Message to Zerubbabel: "You can't force
these things. They only come about through my Spirit,' says
GOD-of-the-Angel-Armies.

GNB: The angel told me to give Zerubbabel this message from the LORD:
"You will succeed, not by military might or by your own strength,
but by my spirit.


THREE THINGS YOU SHOULD BE DOING IN WALKING IN THE SPIRIT

1. SET YOUR MIND ON THE THINGS OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
2. SEEK AND SUBMIT TO THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT
3. SOW TO THE SPIRIT


EMPHASIS TODAY IS:

2. SEEK AND SUBMIT TO THE GUIDANCE OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

Joh 16:13 But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into
all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what
he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come.
Joh 16:14 He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making
it known to you.
Joh 16:15 All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the
Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

a. the Holy Spirit guides you into all truth v.13

-the Holy Spirit is called the Spirit of Truth
-the great truths the Holy Spirit wants us to know are who Jesus really
is and what He accomplished at cross-7 divine exchange.
Also, who we are in Christ-our identity that we must declare
often in a day.
-Satan is a master deceiver.

Mat 24:5 For many will come in my name, claiming, 'I am the Christ,[1]' and will deceive many.
Mat 24:11 and many false prophets will appear and deceive many people.
Mat 24:24 For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform
great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect--if
that were possible.
-Satan blinds
2Co 4:4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers,
so that they cannot see the light of the gospel of the
glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

b. the Holy Spirit says the message of Jesus to you

-This is called "rhema"- word of revelation
-This happens often in your DEVOTION
(CEV) John 16:13 The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide
you into the full truth. The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will
tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know
what is going to happen.
John 16:14 The Spirit will bring glory to me by taking my message and
telling it to you.
John 16:15 Everything that the Father has is mine. That is why I have
said that the Spirit takes my message and tells it to you.
-message of the Lord Jesus in our situation, trials,how to solve
your problems. v14

-Examples
1. Get intimate with and passionate for God
Make your DEVOTION a priority in your day
2. Get into the process of PEPSOL
3. Be committed to your cell group and be discipled by your cell
leader
4. Be faithful with your tithes to prosper and for protection
5. Change your attitude
6. Submit to your husband
7. Love your wife. Be faithful to your wife
8. Obey and honor your parents

c. the Holy Spirit reveals the future (yours, others, country,etc)

-This is called prophetic word
(CEV)
Joh 16:13 The Spirit shows what is true and will come and guide you
into the full truth. The Spirit doesn't speak on his own. He will
tell you only what he has heard from me, and he will let you know
what is going to happen.

Act 2:16 No, this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel:
Act 2:17 " 'In the last days, God says,
I will pour out my Spirit on all people.
Your sons and daughters will prophesy,
your young men will see visions,
your old men will dream dreams.
Act 2:18 Even on my servants, both men and women,
I will pour out my Spirit in those days,
and they will prophesy.

Examples
1. You will become a fruitful G12 leader
2. You will be a catalyst in the transformation of this nation
3. You will be prosperous and successful
4. Danger! Don't go. Don't do that. Go now!
note: The Holy Spirit is the Helper to give strength, power and wisdom
to fulfill your destiny

CONCLUSION:

2Co 13:14 May the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ, and the love of God, and the
fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
TMSG The amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, the extravagant
love of God, the intimate friendship of the Holy Spirit, be with
all of you.
AMP 2Co 13:14 The grace (favor and spiritual blessing) of the Lord
Jesus Christ and the love of God and the presence and fellowship
(the communion and sharing together, and participation) in the
Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen (so be it).

Develop an intimate relationship with the Holy Spirit. Talk to Him everday.
Acknowledge your dependence on Him. He will lead you to victory even as
He will empower you.
