The Desert Transformed by: Jennifer Archer

I saw an amazing documentary once, where a camera man had been in the middle of a desert, filming a documentary on wild animals and the harsh conditions of the desert wilderness. The desert was a barren, hostile, windswept land. In the middle of filming, an amazing event took place. It rained for the first time in over one hundred years! This rain shower continued for about a day. Not a heavy deep rain, but a gentle rain which fell steadily and for a good length of time. The burning sand began to well up with springs of muddied water, because the ground was so dry and hard it took time for the water to seep further down. Those springs of water bubbling up from the ground began to run together and became a great flowing stream through the middle of the desert. The very next day, within one night, that wilderness was a carpeted valley of green grass and vibrant, brightly colored flowers. As far as the eyes could see this desert was one huge carpet of green velvety grass, and glorious blooms. The trees that were there also burst into green leaf, and there was a huge flowing stream right through the middle of this. It was an amazing transformation and an historical moment, that takes place once in a lifetime. All the seeds that had been carried by the wind, dropped by birds or humans or dropped by other plants, had lain dormant just below the surface of the ground for many long dry years, deep enough to avoid being blown away with the gusts of wind which toss the sand around. These seeds had been there for perhaps a hundred years since the last rain shower. Just one rain shower caused that entire wilderness to be a fertile beautiful valley, clothed in color, glory and life. So it is with you! Those dreams and aspirations you once had for the Lord and for his Kingdom; those longings to know Him more, and to experience the greater things in life than the day to day toil of work, home, sleep, are still there within your heart! You may have forgotten what seeds have been sown, but the Holy Spirit knows. The day is coming soon, when He will release His living waters afresh upon your life, and the desert wilderness which has become your prison will suddenly become your place of resurrection and life! A place where your weaknesses and failures become swallowed in His glory and presence. You will arise once more, but this time you shall arise as a king arises on the day of his coronation. You shall take your place upon the throne, the crown shall be placed upon your head, and the scepter in one hand, and a sword in the other. And you shall rise up to become the leader you are being shaped to be. So do not despair, but let your hope arise this day, for many are the children of the barren woman. And though you have been barren of your desires these many years, know that the rain of my Spirit is here today to fall upon you. To remind you of my love and to soak you in my presence. And as my presence begins to soak deep, your wilderness will be transformed. You will no longer be looking for an escape from your circumstances and situation, but you will lift your heart in rejoicing to see the day of my glory and power as it arises over you. And I will lift you up in my hand and set you upon a throne, to rule and reign with me from heavenly places. Hallelujah. Let the rain of your Spirit fall upon each one who reads this today Lord Jesus, and let those dormant seeds spring forth into glorious bloom, and bring honor to your name!
